Sacramento’s 1st Annual Capitol City ACE Academy

The ACE Academy provides unique education programs for middle and high school students interested in aviation and aerospace from June 18 – 22, 2018.

This week-long summer immersion offers students a wide range of aviation career exploration focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

  • Open to Sacramento-area students aged 13-18.
  • Must complete the ACE Academy selection process by submitting a complete application, one (1) page essay, and one (1) letter of recommendation.
  • All applications require a $20 (non-refundable) processing fee.
  • Lunches, field trips, a T-shirt, and informational binder are provided.


ACE Academy students participate in the following camp activities:

  • Meet aviation professionals and learn about their careers
  • Learn the basics of flight planning, aviation history, and the physics of flight
  • Field trips to a variety of airports and aviation-related sites
  • Pilot an aircraft in a flight simulator
  • Take an orientation flight in a single engine aircraft

ACE Career Expo

On Thursday, June 21st from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., the camp is hosting an ACE Career Expo, presented by County Supervisor Phil Serna. The Career Expo will raise awareness of all the aviation and STEM-careers out there, from pilots to air traffic controllers to engineers! Kids will have a chance to meet aviation professionals and learn about all the ways they can make their dreams take flight.

The Expo is open to everyone. Students ages 13 – 18 receive free admission, regular museum admission applies to the rest of the public. For more information on the Career Expo or ACE Summer Camp, please contact
Capitol City ACE Academy is cosponsored by the FAA, OBAP, the Aerospace Museum of California, Sacramento County, and other host organizations. Our most valuable resource is young men and women, and we are committed to continuing this exciting outreach program focused on creating the next generation of aerospace professionals.
